There are two kinds of cigar smokers, the casual smoker who smokes infrequently and likely to celebrate occasions. Then there is the cigar aficionado or collector who enjoys a cigar more frequently like a nice steak and good drink. Both type of smokers enjoy the flavor and aroma of a cigar and the relaxing moments that accompany a nice smoke session. Cigars are meant to be enjoyed slowly, with company or in silence. Some say your best thoughts and wisdom can be shared over smoking a cigar. Cigars are also seen as a symbol of wealth, success, and power. The moral of the story, Cigars need to be cared for as much as your pets.

So Why do people need cigar humidors? Without proper storage a cigar can last 2-3 days but with proper storage a cigar can last years. Humidors are designed to provide a space to control relative humidity levels with humidification, which is essential to the life span and quality control of a cigar. Every cigar enthusiast NEEDS to carry a cigar humidor to hold and store cigars to maintain maximum consistency and life span. Not only does proper storage elevate the life of your cigar ensuring it doesn't dry out quickly but it maintains the flavor profile of how the cigar was intended to be enjoyed. 

A cigar humidor is a storage solution for your cigars that come in many different shapes, sizes, and designs. It allows for the above benefits and also a really cool way to display and show off a collection of cigars ranging from a few to hundreds or even thousands. 

Seasoning Your Cigar Humidor Furniture

The Spanish cedar inside our humidor furniture is a very dry 3% RH when it is stored in our warehouses. 

1. When setting up a new humidor for the first time, remove any dust or debri from the manufacturing process by wiping down the interior with a  clean cloth or sponge (unscented). Make sure you do not moistened the cloth or sponge
2. Place a small shallow bowl or container of distilled water or PG Solution inside the furniture
3. Close and let it sit and acclimate for at least 24 hours.
4. Once the time has passed, if a large portion of the water has evaporated, refill the bowl a second time and leave it inside the cigar humidor for another 24 hours. Repeat as necessary - several days of seasoning is required.
5. Once the water stops evaporating, proceed to "charge the humidifiers." 
6. "Charging the humidor"  - Just before loading cigars in the humidor remove the cigar humidifier unit from the box (this is the sponge like plastic device that is soaked in distilled water).
7. Submerge the cigar humidifier in distilled water or humidifier solution for 30 minutes.
8. Remove it from the water or solution, dry it and set it face down on a paper towel for 30 minutes. This is to allow any excess water to escape from the humidifier so that water leakage on to the cigars is avoided.
9. Once this step is completed, secure the humidifier to the inside of the box using the included velcro adhesive or magnets.
10. The humidor is now seasoned and the cigars can now be set inside.
